The Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) Mysuru Chapter was inaugurated on the 23rd of April 2023 comprising 50 dedicated life members of the Indian Geotechnical Society. The IGS Mysuru Chapter has set its sights on expanding its membership base to a total of 200 members, underlining its commitment to inclusivity and growth.
The IGS Mysuru Chapter encompasses several districts in its purview, including Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Mandya, and Mysore. This wide geographic coverage ensures that the chapter serves as a hub for professionals and students interested in geotechnical engineering.
With its founding members and future aspirations, the IGS Mysuru Chapter is poised to become a vital platform for the exchange of ideas, research, and best practices in geotechnical engineering. Through seminars, workshops, conferences, and other educational initiatives, the IGS Mysuru Chapter aims to promote excellence and innovation in the field and ultimately benefit the local community by ensuring the safe and sustainable development of infrastructure projects.
The Jodhpur local chapter was founded in 2012, with the able leadership of Dr. DGM Purohit and Dr. N. K Ameta. This dynamic chapter boasts a membership of over 100 proactive individuals. Regular activities including National Seminars, National Workshops, and an Annual Lecture Series are diligently organized. Notably, there is a student chapter named "JIET Student Chapter" that is currently undergoing the recognition process.
IGS - Trichy Chapter is one of the local chapters working under IGS National Body, New Delhi. IGS Trichy Chapter was started in the year 2014 and is dedicated to advancing knowledge and creating opportunities for the sharing of information by academicians and practitioners in a broad range of geotechnical disciplines with the view of contributing to the achievement of excellence in geotechnical engineering for the benefit of society.IGS Trichy Chapter will accomplish its aim by regular technical meetings, workshops, conferences, seminars and site visits to make a concerted effort to train the practising engineers, students about the significance and importance of Geotechnical Engineering
The aim of the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) is to endorse and uphold cooperation among engineers and scientists for the progression and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, Soil Dynamics, Engineering Geology, Rock Mechanics and allied fields and their practical applications. To promote interaction among geotechnical engineers ofthe North Eastern Region, local chapter of the Geotechnical Society “IGS Guwahati Chapter (NE)” was established in 2005. This chapter provides a common forum for academicians, research workers, designers, construction engineers, equipment manufacturers and others interested in Geotechnical activity. To build capability at all levels including at the student level, IGS Guwahati Chapter (NE) organizing a one day Geo-congress on Advances in Geotechnical Engineering. The Geo-congress invites contributing papers from students of Civil Engineering working or interested in geotechnical engineering related problems. Thus it provides a common platform to North East students, so that they can share their academic/research activities and also to express and exchange their ideas.
IGS Thanjavur Chapter since its establishment in 1998 conducts conference, workshop and training programmes for students, academia and industry people
