The 1st IGS STUDENT CHAPTER SURAT was inaugurated by SVNIT SURAT on 4th November 2017 in presence of President of Indian Geotechnical Society Prof. G. L. S. Babu, Prof. V. S. Raju (Former Director IIT DELHI), Prof. S. R. Gandhi (Director SVNIT SURAT), Prof. C. H. Solanki (Professor and Head Geotechnical, Executive Member IGS), Er. Hitesh Desai (Chairman of IGS Surat Chapter). The aim of this student chapter is to motivate students to give exposure to careers and opportunities in the field of Geotechnical engineering and also to develop leadership skills among students which will help them in their career by organizing training programmes and seminars.
