• Having done schooling from Sainik School, Kapurthala, I did Bachelor of Technology (with Distinction) in Civil Engineering from one of the premier institutes of our country i.e. National Institute of Technology, Surathkal (Karnataka). I have done Masters in Civil Engineering in two disciplines i.e. M.Tech. In Structural Engineering and M.E. in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering. A recipient of the merit certificate at Master's level, I had the proud privilege to be selected by Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial in recognition of academic excellence (First in the University) at Postgraduate level (83.5% in Masters and 88.4% in PhD). I was felicitated with a Merit Scholarship throughout my studies on account of Academic Brilliance.
• After serving for a brief duration at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala and Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering and Technology, Bathinda; I joined PAU Ludhiana on 01-08-1992. I remained Head of Civil Engineering Department for a period of 4 years. I served as Professor, Civil Engineering Department, PAU for sixteen years and discharged the duties of Chief Engineer for 14 years.
• Having served PAU in various capacities (Chairman, Teaching Committee of the Department; Chairperson of Student Grievance Redressal committee; Coordinator, External Examination; Assistant Warden, Hostels; Member, Board of Studies of the College and Member, Academic Council of the University), I was actively involved in various activities of the College and University.
• Teaching is my Passion and have taught 35 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate courses. I am/have been member BOS of PTU, Chitkara University, SBS State University. I have been appointed Chairperson, Board of Studies both in UG and PG programmes of Civil Engineering Department by IKG Punjab Technical University for the period 2026-28.
• I have developed e-contents (under the aegis of ICAR) and published 3 Laboratory manuals for students of Undergraduate Programme. I have guided/evaluated a total of more than 140 theses/dissertations of Postgraduate students. I have published about 225 research papers in various Journals/Proceedings of Conferences and attended more than a dozen short-term courses. I am Fellow of 5 Professional Societies, Life Member of 2 International Societies and 10 National Societies. I have also chaired more than a dozen technical sessions at International Conferences.
• I attended a 14-day Training Programme at Moscow State University of Environmental Engineering (MSUEE), Russia (in 2013) and presented two papers at an International Conference organised by University of Illinois, Chicago (in 2019). I am frequently invited by various Institutes as an External Expert for Examinations and Selection Committees. I am empanelled as an Advisor/Subject expert in 4 Public Service Commissions. I have been nominated by UGC as an Expert member on various committees and have served as a Member, Governing Council of two autonomous colleges.
