Dr. Sumanta Haldar is a Professor of Civil Engineering and the Head of the School of Infrastructure at IIT Bhubaneswar. He earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, with research focused on soil-structure interaction and the risk and reliability-based design of pile foundations. He received the prestigious Prof. Leonards Best PhD Thesis Award from the Indian Geotechnical Society. With over 15 years of research experience, Dr. Haldar is an expert in offshore geotechnics, soil-structure interaction, and the dynamics of soils and foundations. His research emphasizes developing theoretical models for geotechnical structures, particularly offshore renewable energy foundations, and applying reliability concepts in geotechnical engineering. He has published extensively in high-impact journals and conferences. His research interests include offshore and pile foundations, as well as advanced numerical modeling in geotechnical engineering. He is recognized for his expertise in combining mechanics and mathematics with experimental and computational approaches in geotechnics.
