The Kolkata Chapter of Indian Geotechnical Society - the Geotechnical Study Circle, Kolkata was born nearly 59 years ago, when the profession of Geotechnical Engineering was in its infancy in our country. A few enthusiastic civil engineers involved in field work and research in Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, dedicated themselves to the cause of geotechnical investigation and cultivation of knowledge in the subject.
