IGS Guwahati Chapter

The aim of the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) is to endorse and uphold cooperation among engineers and scientists for the progression and dissemination of knowledge in the fields of Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering, Soil Dynamics, Engineering Geology, Rock Mechanics and allied fields and their practical applications. To promote interaction among geotechnical engineers ofthe North Eastern Region, local chapter of the Geotechnical Society “IGS Guwahati Chapter (NE)” was established in 2005. This chapter provides a common forum for academicians, research workers, designers, construction engineers, equipment manufacturers and others interested in Geotechnical activity. To build capability at all levels including at the student level, IGS Guwahati Chapter (NE) organizing a one day Geo-congress on Advances in Geotechnical Engineering. The Geo-congress invites contributing papers from students of Civil Engineering working or interested in geotechnical engineering related problems. Thus it provides a common platform to North East students, so that they can share their academic/research activities and also to express and exchange their ideas.
